HP NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Our Aloha Region High Performance Teams will be preparing to compete in the 2010 USA Volleyball High Performance Championship scheduled for July 26-30 at the Wisconsin Dells Center in Wisconsin Dells, WI. The teams will be staying at the Chula Vista Resort, about 3 miles north of the venue. More information and updates will be posted on this page as they become available.

07/03/10-An updated list of teams entered in the HP Championships can be found under "PARTICIPATING TEAMS" on the link to the left.

06/22/10-Opening ceremony and banquet tickets can be purchased online. Click on the "WISCONSIN DELLS CENTER-TOURNAMENT VENUE" link on the left.

06/20/10-A big mahalo to all those who helped with the Aloha Region High Performance Fundraiser Tournament held yesterday at McKinley High Schooly Gym. We had a total of 6 women's teams and 8 men's teams. In the men's division, Quicksets took the match over Leviticus, 25-21 and in the women's division, HI Life took the match over Drag Ass, 25-15. A special mahalo to Candy's Volleyball Supply and Kent Ma for donating the prizes.

05/31/10-The Aloha Region High Performance Program is hosting a tournament fundraiser to help defray some travel expenses for our 4 teams who will be competing in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships to be held at the Chula Vista Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells, WI on July 26-30, 2010. The tournament will be held on Saturday, 06/19/10, at McKinley High School Gym and open to all USAV members in two divisions.

• A-Open Women's Division, 8:00am
• A-Open Men's Division, 2:00pm

05/22/10-Congratulations to the junior members who have been selected to the 2010 Aloha Region High Performance Teams and will represent the region at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in Wisconsin Dells, WI on July 26-30. Click HERE for the final rosters.

05/12/10-The Aloha Region HP coaches are finalizing their rosters and it will be posted on this website by Friday, 05/21/10. Players chosen as alternates will be notified by Saturday, 05/15/10 whether they made the team or not. 04/10/10-REMINDER

• The Aloha Region High Performance Tryouts will be held tomorrow, Sunday, 04/11/10 at Farrington High School Gym. Walk up registration will be accepted for the girls starting at 1:30pm. Registration fee is $15 for USAV Aloha Region members with a valid USAV Aloha Region Membership card, $20 for those without a valid USAV Aloha Region Membership card.
• All participants should wear a numbered shirt. Pinned numbers will be available for those without numbered shirts or shirts with duplicate numbers.

The schedule is as follows:

• 1:30pm-2:30pm GIRLS Registration
• 2:30pm-4:30pm GIRLS Tryouts
• 4:30pm-5:30pm BOYS Registration
• 5:30pm-7:30pm BOYS Tryouts

Age divisions are as follows:

• Women's International Junior = Born in 1991, 1992, and 1993
• Girls International Youth = Born in 1994 and after
• Girls National Youth = Born in 1994 and after
• Girls National Select = Born in 1996 and after
• Boys International Youth = Born in 1992 and after
• Boys National Youth = Born in 1993 and after

04/04/10-The Regional HP timeline is ticking and we are starting our process to select the traveling teams who will be representing our region in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships scheduled for July 26-30, 2010 in Wisconsin Dells, WI.

Tryouts will be held on Sunday, 04/11/10 at Farrington High School Gym. Please see the schedule below for times. Girls who are interested in trying out for the Women's International Junior Division will be trying out at the same time as the rest of the girls. This division is geared for seniors 17-19 year olds. Please see special details regarding this division. Aloha Region HP Updates will be posted periodically on the left hand panel.

03/29/10-More HP Tryout Information: For those of you who will be attending the Aloha Region HP Tryouts, please wear any numbered shirt. You will be assign a number if you don't have a numbered shirt or if there are duplicate numbers. The USA Volleyball Boys' national tryout results are already posted on the USAV website under the 2010 Boys' High Performance Tryout Results.

If you were selected for the A1 or A2 teams, please notify USAV as soon as possible. If you were selected for the A3 team or a HP Camp, you may want to consider trying out for the Aloha Region Regional HP Team. Please email Cindy Flynn if you have further questions.

**03/28/10**-We will have a special High Performance Tryout for girls born in 1991, 1992, 1993. We will consider entering a Women's International Junior team if we get a good turnout and we can get competitive players to commit to traveling. This division is highly competitive and competition will be against the USA Junior, USA Youth, International teams, and a few regional teams. A coach will not be selected until we conduct the tryouts scheduled for Sunday, 04/11/10. Pre-registration will now open. Click HERE for the registration form.

Please note that the venue for the USA Volleyball High Performance Championship Tournament has changed to the Wisconsin Dells in Wisconsin, about 1 hour from Madison, WI. The competition dates will be July 26-30, with the technical meeting scheduled for Sunday, July 25th.

03/13/10-The Aloha Region High Performance Tryouts will be held on Sunday, 04/11/10 at Farrington High School Gym. The following is the tryout schedule:

01/25/10 - The USA Volleyball National HP Tryouts will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 (Girls) and Sunday, March 7, 2010 (Boys) at UH-Gym 1. Registration will be available through the USA Volleyball HP website sometime soon.

01/25/10 - We will also be conducting a Coaches Workshop on Sunday, 03/07/10, right after the boys tryout. The workshop will be open and free to all Aloha Region coaches. Ryan Scudder, Tommy Lake, and other coaches who attended last week's HP Coaches Clinic in Colorado Springs will share information presented by Hugh McCutcheon (USA National Women's Head Volleyball Coach) and his staff. 01/25/10 - The 2010 USA Volleyball High Performance Championship Tournament (July 27-31, 2010 in Sevierville, TN) has been confirmed and the Aloha Region intends to compete in at least 5 divisions. Players interested in trying out for the team should check this webpage for upcoming announcements. We are currently gathering more information to set regional tryouts, a tentative travel schedule, estimated costs, and coaching staff. Stay tuned for more information.

01/10/10 - Calling all interested coaches! The Aloha Region Junior Committee is currently accepting applications for Regional High Performance coaches. Applicants must meet the following general criteria:

• Must be a current member of the Aloha Region.
• Must be at least CAP I certified or IMPACT certified and working toward CAP certification.
• Must be available to attend practices prior to the HP Championships and travel with the team to the HP Championship Tournament. Tentative travel dates are July 24-August 1, 2010.
• Highly recommended to participate in the USA Volleyball national HP tryouts scheduled for Saturday, 03/06/10 and Sunday, 03/07/10.
• Highly recommended to participate in the Aloha Region HP tryouts (date/time TBD).

12/21/09-The 3rd edition of INSIDE HP is now available and posted. Check out the December 2009 issue to see the Aloha Region members who have been invited to the Holiday Camp.

11/12/09-The 2nd edition of INSIDE HP is now available and posted. This month's issue features Micah Christenson. Micah was a member of the USA Boys Youth National Team at the High Performance Championships in Ft. Lauderdale this past July. Check out the November 2009 issue now!

10/15/09-Check out the newest USA Volleyball publication, INSIDE HP. This is a monthly newsletter that will feature all aspects of the USA Volleyball National and Regional High Performance Programs. This month's issue features an article by one of our own, Erik Shoji. Check out the October 2009 issue now!

07/26/09 - Congratulations to all the players on the Aloha Region High Performance teams. The final Aloha Region standings for the HP Championships are as follows:

• BIY = 3rd /12 teams
• BNY = 5th /10 teams
• GIY = 8th/18 teams
• GNY = 14th/14 teams
• GNS = 13th/24 teams

Special recognition goes out to the Boys International Youth team that took 3rd in their division and to Reid Pangelinan who received the Best Server award. Click HERE for final results.

07/21/09 - We arrived in Ft. Lauderdale yesterday morning after a 9 hour flight from Honolulu to Atlanta and another 2 hours from Atlanta to Ft. Lauderdale. Amazingly, all players had enough energy for a 2 hour practice after settling in to the hotel. It was a long day...

The tournament schedule will be posted on the HP Championships website...click here. The BNY, GNY, and GNS teams will be playing their first match tomorrow at 8:30am. The BIY and GIY teams will be playing their first match at 10:15am.

06/09/09 - CONGRATULATIONS to Erik Shoji, Brad Lawson, and Tri Bourne for being selected to the USAV Men's Junior National Team. The team will compete in the 2009 FIVB World Championships on July 31-August 9 in Pune, India. Erik and Brad currently play for Stanford and Tri plays for USC. Way to go guys! Read more...
